Job title: Advisor, Capital & Funding

Reports to: Director, Financial Stability
Overview
The Advisor, Capital & Funding will report to the Director, Financial Stability and will be responsible for developing and
executing banking industry positions on capital adequacy, funding, and resolution.
Description of Responsibilities
- Conduct policy analysis on issues related primarily to capital adequacy, funding, and resolution
- Monitor, analyze and assist in the development and execution of advocacy plans to effectively convey industry
positions pertaining to developments in international and domestic banking regulation, primarily arising from the
Basel Committee, Finance, OSFI, Bank of Canada, and CDIC
- As revised international banking regulation is translated into domestic rules and guidance, help to ensure that
Canadian banks are internationally competitive and not disadvantaged through asymmetrical implementation of
new capital and funding rules
- Undertake the necessary research to support industry positions
- Monitor developments of new issues
- Liaise with representatives on various CBA committees on issues of mutual interest and articulate banking industry
positions to regulators, the Department of Finance, etc. on behalf of member banks, as needed
- Assist in co-ordinating industry positions for consistency among other areas in the Financial Stability Division and
the CBA
- Work collaboratively within the Financial Stability & Banking Policy Division and the CBA as required
- Provide CBA representation through participation in the International Banking Federation’s working groups, as
appropriate
Key Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills
- You have achieved a graduate degree and have a minimum of three to five years relevant work experience in
financial services
- Work experience in capital/risk management, capital markets, and legislative/regulatory matters will be considered
an asset
- Strong interpersonal/communications skills (to work effectively with members, government officials, and other
industry groups)
- Excellent writing skills
- Proven advocate
- Excellent analytical and research abilities including the ability to think critically
- Facilitation and consensus-building skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Computer literate (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)
- Fluency in French would be considered an asset
